Woburn, MA, October 2, 2001 - SensAble Technologies today announced the appointment of Curt Rawley as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Rawley was previously president and CEO of Synapix, president and CEO of Avid Technology, and president of Racal Design Services. He also served in various management positions at Pixel Computer, Applicon and Digital Equipment Corporation. Most widely recognized for his work at Avid Technology, Rawley built and directed the company to be the world leader in video editing with revenues in excess of $400 million, leading the organization through an extremely successful IPO. Founder and chief technology officer Thomas Massie and president Bill Aulet will continue to serve in their current positions, maintaining full-time, active roles within the company.

Massie commented, "When we initiated our nationwide search for a CEO, we agreed that a successful candidate would need to possess at least three qualifications. First, a demonstrated ability to create a profitable, sustainable and high growth business with revenues exceeding $100 million. Second, the intelligence and relevant market experience to understand and grow our revolutionary technology. Finally, and most importantly, a shared vision for unlocking the real potential of computers with a new, more human-centric user interface. Lofty goals make for hard work, but we have been rewarded with a CEO that clearly exceeds all of these qualifications." Curt graduated from Duke University where he received an Engineering degree and starred on the football team. Curt also holds an MBA from Harvard University. He joined Avid in 1988 as a co-founder and served as president and CEO from 1991 through 1996. Most recently, he was president and CEO of Synapix from 1996 through August 2001.
