Frankfurt, Germany, November 29, 2000 - SensAble Technologies today announced expansion of operations into Europe with offices opening in London, Paris and Stuttgart. Inc. Magazine named the Boston-based company to its list of top 500 fastest-growing private companies last year. The company continues to experience tremendous growth, but it is the 1999 introduction and subsequent success of its FreeForm modeling system that are the primary catalysts in its global expansion. The FreeForm system, which allows designers and modelers to use their sense of touch to model on the computer, has been widely adopted in industries from footwear and furniture to toys and entertainment.

"FreeForm modeling is changing the way companies approach design," commented Tom Ellery, SensAble's Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "We believe the best way to support customers through this process change is to give them easy access to SensAble representatives‹that means having local offices."
FreeForm modeling is already impacting European customers. The FreeForm system helped UK-based Synapse Modelmaking design a line of collectible toys for the recent hit movie Chicken Run. German sporting goods manufacturer adidas-Salomon is integrating FreeForm modeling into their design processes and cite possible reductions in development time up to 80%.

SensAble's recent $23 million investment round, which included Acer Capital, Advent International, IBM and the Kaufmann Fund, among others, provides for the global expansion. The company is also growing operations in Asia to be close to manufacturing customers located there.

SensAble Technologies will be unveiling FreeForm Version 3 at Euromold Booth #B83 in Frankfurt, Germany, November 29 - December 2.

About FreeForm modeling
The FreeForm modeling system is the first tool that lets sculptors and designers use their sense of touch while modeling on the computer. It's as intuitive and expressive as physical modeling with clay or foam, yet with all the productivity advantages of a completely digital tool. The FreeForm system lets you model the way you want to, without constraints on your creativity. As a result, the well-known productivity benefits of digital modeling can now be applied to a variety of modeling challenges previously beyond the capabilities of computer software.
