J. & W. Seligman & Co. led the 3rd round funding, which also included new investors IBM, Wanger Asset Management, HLM Management, MF Private Capital and others. Investors from previous rounds participated as well, including Advent International, Acer Capital and the Kaufmann Fund. Adams, Harkness & Hill, Inc. acted as placement agent for SensAble, which will use the capital to accelerate the sales, marketing, and development of its award-winning FreeForm™ touch-enabled modeling system.

The competition was fierce at the FreeForm™ modeling contest held by SensAble Technologies at Siggraph '99 in Los Angeles. Over 200 participants created models with the newly released FreeForm system. Though entrants had no prior experience with FreeForm modeling and only an hour in which to create models, the quality of the work submitted was remarkable- primarily due to the intuitive interface that allows users to model on the computer using their sense of touch.
